As soon as it is poured you can pick up that genuine Pilsener aroma. At that point I was not keen to try this one because as like my counterpart I am not a fan of any Pilsener. I did my best to avoid the first taste by watching a replay of a Rabbitohs v Tigers game.
The first taste: Possibly the best Pilsener ever made.
Why the best Pilsener? Possibly because it is closer to a lager than any other Pilsener I have tasted. A purist would hate me.
Does it get worse? Most definitely not. The further you go through the bottle you will notice no change in taste. It is consistent and adequate the whole way.
My final word: This Pilsener has restored my faith this form of beer. A great one for the kids wanting to cut their teeth on an easy drinking beer, before hitting the hard stuff.

It was with great apprehension that I attempted Oettinger Pils (or any Pilsener for that matter) for the one thing I've discovered over the years is that Pilseners are typically horrible.
This may have to do with the Australian lack of exposure to continental Pilseners but I prefer to think of it has having an advanced sense of taste. Imagine my surprise when after the first swigg my body didn't attempt to reject it. Perhaps I had a residual taste from an earlier beer I thought.
It still had that typical hopped Pilsener aroma though (not a plus in my book) but further sampling left me with the opinion that this Pilsener at least, was something I could get behind. The sad part of this is that I'm now likely to endure the usual rubbish variety attempting to find another good one.
