The beer cocktail

THe latest trend in beer drinking or a passing fad?

On a recent research expedition thesmoko.com.au discovered a new species of beverage. thesmoko.com.au uncovered the beer cocktail at a boutique bar in Canberra on the 28th November 2008. Just how this beverage came into existence remains a mystery however research is continuing to determine just how widespread the beer cocktail is.

At first glance the concoction appeared repulsive. With a sliver of strawberry garnishing the glass made famous by James Bond it seemed awkward and unfriendly as it sat on the bar. After spending some time admiring the cocktail it became clear that there was nothing to fear. It was friendly and displayed a warm glow that seemed to attract people to it.

After observing the cocktail interact with humans it became apparent that it was much more attracted to females. The ladies in the crowd seemed to be drawn to it in return.

At thesmoko.com.au we love new things, especially if it involves solving gender gap issues. By now most men out there have realised that being more attentive the needs of the woman or women in their lives is a complete waste of time. In fact, there is a greater chance of running a successful election campaign against Robert Mugabe than ever being able to understand what the f*&k is going through the minds of women.

Could it be that the beer cocktail is the bridge that will close the gender gap? Everyone is familiar with the old trip to the bar that involves an order something along the lines of “I’ll have a glass of white, a red cruiser...ummmm a champagne and a schooner of Carlton thanks”, then to be told, “That will be thirty-nine dollars”. Most of the time you get back to the table, only to be told, “Oh, did you get me a red cruiser? I wanted a black Smirnoff Ice”.

Now imagine if you could go to the bar and say, “Three beer cocktails and a schooner of Carlton thanks”. Then you could go back to the table with your beers and all bitch together about the beer being too hot. Instantly men and women would have something in common.

Along with the ease of ordering and instant conversation topics is the fact that the alchopop tax would be a thing of the past and you could spend a night at the pub without spending $200.00 each time (excluding pokies and kebabs).

In the end the beer cocktail is all about the packaging, it is the same beer that you get in a pint glass. The strawberry and glass give the beer a touch of glamour while the optional straw adds a bit of fun.

The verdict is that the beer cocktail may have a future, it could introduce a whole new gender to the benefits of drinking beer. It could take beer from being the staple drink of men, boys and tattooed man hating dykes, to the staple drink of humanity. While this might be a little ambitious thesmoko.com.au still stands by the motto “we fear no beer” and certainly not the beer cocktail.
